Bridging Global Urban Challenges Through Collaborative Architecture
#88Acres exhibition on Sri Lanka’s first woman architect, South Asia’s first woman to have associate membership of the RIBA, Minette de Silva. The solo exhibition of the architect is focused on the Walapuluwa housing scheme, where she has explored a participatory design process. The three - year research project into her work has also unearthed that de Silva has published her work as ‘Experiments in the Modern - Regional’, 30 years before it was established as a critique of modern architecture.

Archt. Channa Dawatte delivered a lecture on 'Architecture after Architects' for B.Arch Level Five students on 09th November 2023 at the Department of Architecture Main Auditorium. We thank Channa for accepting our invitation and sharing his wisdom with us.

Prof. Upendra Rajapaksha delivered the prestigious Inaugural Lecture on
"Setting equations in the art of making architecture at net-Zero", on 31st October 2023 at Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Moratuwa.
Dr. Janaka Wijesundara attended the International Conference of Silk Road International Alliance of Architectural and Technological Universities as a resource participant. This event was an international event participated by academics and professionals from 25 countries around the world and gathered to discuss on the subjects of future cities, architecture and urban sustainability.

Archt. Rajitha Katugaha (Lecturer) and Ms. Sanduni Lenadora (Alumni/ Visiting Lecturer) of our Department, presented their research paper presentations at the recent Kyoto Conference on Arts, Media and Culture 2023 (KAMC2023), held at Kyoto Research Park, Kyoto, Japan from 10th to 13th October 2023 organised by the The International Academic Forum (IAFOR).
We are delighted to announce that Ms. Hasini Sambhashini from the B. Arch 17' Batch of the Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa participated in the KVD Forum organized by CEPT University, held from 11th to 13th August in Ahmedabad, India.
The Kurula Varkey Design Forum is a student-led platform that brings together students from various architectural schools across South Asia to foster discussions on current architectural discourse, with the theme this year being "The Role of Beauty in Architecture".
