Hasini Sambhashini from the B. Arch 17' Batch participated in the KVD Forum organized by CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India

We are delighted to announce that Ms. Hasini Sambhashini from the B. Arch 17' Batch of the Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa participated in the KVD Forum organized by CEPT University, held from 11th to 13th August in Ahmedabad, India.

The Kurula Varkey Design Forum is a student-led platform that brings together students from various architectural schools across South Asia to foster discussions on current architectural discourse, with the theme this year being "The Role of Beauty in Architecture".

Hasini was conferred the opportunity to present her final-year design thesis, "Heritage Interpretation Center for Medieval Crafts", as one of the short-listed projects at the prestigious forum, which also emerged as the best Comprehensive Design Project of 2023 at UOM. Her thesis interprets the notion of architectural beauty beyond visuals which includes emotions and experiences. The Intention of this project is to create a link between 21st century patronage and artisans while addressing the intangible values of heritage crafts in order to enhance their economic value.

We congratulate Hasini on her achievement and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours!
