The annual community service project organized by the Earth Resources Engineering Society of the Department of Earth Resources Engineering named “Gurugedarata Arunellak – Phase II” took place on 9th and 10th February 2020 at Walipatanwila Maha Vidyalaya, Nonagama.
“Yuthukamen Bindak” was a volunteer tree plantation event where, 12500 plants were donated to Panagoda Sri Lanka Army Camp along with watering system, soil auger and water pump on 23rd January 2020. The objective of this event was to help the world to cope up with sustainability concepts of the world.
As per the collaborative agreement with the College of Mining and Safety Engineering, Shandong University of Science and Technology, China for mutual benefit, the first five students arrived at the department on 23rd September 2019, for a three months training.
Group of academic staff researchers of the Department has won a competitive grant under Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD) for the proposal titled Potential of Rare Earth Elements (REE) in Sri Lankan Onshore and Offshore Terrains and Development of Extraction Techniques.
A community service project of Earth Resources Engineering Society of Department of Earth Resources Engineering took effect on 11th November 2019 at the Monaragala Viharamadevi Primary School, Buttala.
