The application window is now open for the Master of Science in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MSc (RS & GIS)], Master of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [MRS & GIS], and Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems [PGDip (RS & GIS)] for the 2025/2026 intake.
We extend our congratulations to Dr. L.P.S. Rohitha on his appointment as Head of the Department, effective 26 June 2025. We welcome his leadership as he begins this new chapter.

Effective 26 February 2024, Dr. CL Jayawardena has been appointed as a professor, achieving a historic milestone as the first homegrown professor in Earth Resources Engineering in the history of our department. Prof. Jayawardena earned his B.Sc. Eng.
On 21 December 2024, the Department of Earth Resources Engineering commemorated its fiftieth anniversary, highlighting its legacy in education, research, and graduate achievements.
