Undergraduate Courses (Full-Time)
The university system in Sri Lanka operates within the framework laid down in the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 as amended. The selection of students for admission to undergraduate courses in the universities is a task assigned to the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the said Act. The UGC carries out this task in consultation with the Universities /Campuses /Institutes.
The selection procedure for students with foreign qualifications to undergraduate courses of the Universities/Higher Educational Institutions are mentioned in the Handbook on “ADMISSION OF STUDENTS WITH FOREIGN QUALIFICATIONS” issued annually by the UGC, which is available in the website - https://www.ugc.ac.lk/.

Joint PhD Programmes
The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), UoM currently offers PhD programmes jointly with following Universities, where the students carry out their research under the guidance of a team of supervisors from both universities which enable them to obtain a single PhD from both.
- The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia
- The University of Wollongong, Australia
- Deakin University, Australia
The intention of these programmes is to provide opportunities for international research collaboration to UoM academic staff, and to enable UoM graduate students to experience different cultures and research experiences. FGS has taken initiatives to further consolidate their joint PhD program while increasing the number of partner universities and participating students.
