The first ever research lab for Bio-Medical Technologies in Sri Lanka

Premium International (Pvt) Ltd and the University of Moratuwa (UoM) entered into an agreement in view of establishing a research and development laboratory for the biomedical technologies. The agreement was signed on June 21, 2012 at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. 

The new agreement enables to carry out joint research and product development activities in areas such as soft-and-hard ware design of medical and clinical devices for use in hospitals as well as for personal healthcare apart from designing and developing hospital automation systems and providing industrial training in selected areas for undergraduates. 

The initial agreement between the parties will be effective for a period of two years from the date of signing the agreement.The overall management and implementation of the laboratory

will be carried out by a board of management approved with the concurrences of the parties, while the day-to-day operations of the project will be carried out by the operations committee. 

The agreement was signed by the Director Operations Mahesh Fernando on behalf of the Premium International (Pvt) Ltd and Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Jayawardane on behalf of the University of Moratuwa.
