Prabathiya Herath becomes the Sri Lankan Champion in IMechE SOFE Competition 2021

Mr. Prabathiya Herath, a student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DoME), representing the University of Moratuwa (UoM) became the  Sri Lankan Champion of Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) competition 2021, organized by IMechE Sri Lanka Group. Mr. Ranuka Perera from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) became the runner-up in the competition.

This is the 4th consecutive time that a student from DoME UoM has reached this milestone. The champion and the runner-up will compete in South Asia Regional Competition.

Prabathiya Herath becomes the Sri Lankan Champion in IMechE SOFE Competition 2021

 

Preliminary rounds were held in August 2021 with more than 20 contestants from 5 different universities in Sri Lanka. Five students from DoME UoM (Ms. Sumudu Adikaram, Mr. Ashen Ravindu, Mr. Shayan Gopikrishnan, Mr. Mahela Prasanna, and Mr. Prabathiya Herath) competed in the preliminary round and Mr. Mahela Prasanna and Mr. Prabathiya Herath became winners and they were selected for the finals along with 4 other contestants.

Sri Lanka Finals was successfully held on 23rd of October 2021 with the participation of IMechE Sri Lanka Group officials and the evaluation panel was comprised of well experienced members of Toastmasters International.
